It has been a while since I have posted so I am long over due. I do have some good excuses though....there have been many celebrations in our house lately, first and foremost my husband, Darin & I are expecting our 1st baby this Nov. Yes, it is an exciting news and times for us!!! All is going well with me and the baby - 18 wks today and counting. We have much to do to prepare for and relish in the work to make room for baby! One downfall has been my all-day sickness, yes not morning sickness, but bouts of nausea throughout the day. So eating has become quite a chore - not a lot of baking happening either. I did manage to bake the treats you see here, as they were part of the story when we told our family the news that they were going to become grandparents - denoted by Gs and M & D for the new initials that Darin & I will have.

We also marked Darin's 40 th b'day with a surprise party which was great a celebration. Apparently the Momma-to-be pulled it all off without a hitch, truly a good distraction for me.
I did not bake for the event, but we had a great venue at the
Tin Roof Bistro in their wine cellar and their tasty menu. Of course there were goodies all around, from the imprinted M&Ms that yes you could actually eat Darin's face, the tower of cupcakes from
Susie Cakes & Bristol Farms, and the huge candy containers filled with old time favs. And last, but not least the favors were star cookies from
Sunflower Baking Inc for everyone to take home and enjoy...well maybe some survived the trip home.
I did manage to bake on Father's Day - after cooking a little fajita lunch I whipped up some oatmeal cookies - some with choc chips & pecans others just plain, but always with my secret ingredient added to the Quaker Oats traditional recipe. There was a oatmeal cookie day a month or so ago so I finally observed it and so did everyone else who devoured the cookies.
I promise to share more of my kitchen goodies as I hope to come out of the sick days soon.
