Ok, good thought, but maybe that's just the start, you may need 3 Fs - friends, family, food and of course some fun mixed in along the way. In honor of Valentines Day I will try to cover all the above.
Friends - who doesn't need friends? I feel incredibly lucky to have the friends that I do. From my girlfriends of 30+ yrs, yes the ones from girl scouts to sharing our own families now to my circle of Mommy friends that we share all the good and challenging times as we raise our kids and learn so much along the way.
Family - there is new greater gift that continues to give each and everyday. Maybe I am biased but I think I may have the best one. I thank my Mom & Dad for making ours a great foundation, the one that I grew up with and have aspired to make a similar one. And for the one that my husband and I are making today. It is such a great journey and our son makes it more fun each and every day.
We had lots opportunities for projects this month. Make homemade Valentine's Day cards for the grandparents, decorate our 'loving tree', put together Valentine's Day cards for all the kiddos in my son's preschool class - he picked dinosaur cards with dino tattoos. (Re-use) the manzita branch, for this season make it a 'loving' tree. We added ribbons & 14 hearts, writing down the things we love.
Food - Yes, this needs to be included here too. Didn't someone once say 'the way to one's heart is through their stomach' if so here is a holiday to test that out. Here are some items that we enjoyed in our house. We are having some holiday gatherings this week so I am planning
1) make your own heart pizzas and homemade pop tarts. I made the lil pizzas with store bought dough, Trader Joes Arlie/herb and wheat just adding 4 cheese blend and then my hubby's favs-Canadian bacon +pineapple & prosciutto with fresh basil.

2) heart ravioli dinner (I found these cheese raviolis at Costco not sure how tasty but worth a try) for the boys.

3) For Valentine's Day morn here is what I am prepping - baked oatmeal.
Here is the recipe
Baked Oatmeal with Cinnamon & Pears from Oh My Veggies:
~2 1/2 cups rolled oats (the recipe was in Swedish) so I had to convert from grams to cups
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cardamon
1/4 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp vanilla powder - I substituted 1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 c milk - I used almond milk
~ 1/4 cup maple syrup - I used agave
1 egg
2 pears, diced
Preheat oven to 392 degrees.
Mix oats, spices, vanilla, baking powder and salt; set aside.
In another bowl whisk milk, syrup, egg. Add to the dry ingredients and stir until combined. Fold in pears. Pour into baking dish & bake for 30-35 min or until set and beginning to brown on top.
Allow to coll and cut into slices. Serves 6-8.
Fun - You know what this is, right? Be sure to try it each and every day... in little and big ways.....here is an example
