I post here today after celebrating Rosh Hashanah with our family last night. I love this time of year so many celebrations and traditions.
A common greeting on Rosh Hashanah is shana tovah u'metukah, Hebrew for "a good and sweet new year." Many traditional foods such as apples and honey, raisin challah, honey cake and pomegranates are eaten, in part, for this reason.
I couldn't decide what to make until my Mom asked for an apple cobbler and my hubby's vote was for a crisp so he won out this time.
I made this Vegan Apple Crisp and here is the recipe. In my opinion it had the familiar crisp flavors, but it didn't have the same textures as a traditional crisp (which is the norm coming out of my kitchen for Thanksgiving so stay tuned). So a bit different but the family enjoyed it nonetheless with homemade vanilla bean ice cream too. I think I will try a apple honey cake next time around. Since I started eating Vegan 10 months ago I find the food options very good and cooking with flavor is key. Baking Vegan is a lil different, which I have dabbled with and this just means I need to continue to reach perfection. I encourage you to try something new, good for you IS always just good.
