So our son called last week, known around here as snow week...snow wee.
Appropriate since the weekend before we went skiing with some friends. This was a first ski trip for our son. We had wanted to see how he would do last year but never made the trip. Finally it seemed right when our friends invited us up to their house in Lake Arrowhead planning ski days in Snow Valley and Snow Summit.
Now may ask was there even any snow? Well no, not much but honestly it was great conditions for newbies like our son and his 2 friends to have their first ski experiences. Not driving 6 hrs only to find out that your child doesn't like skiing or that it is just too cold to see straight is a nice option too and the 2 hr drive makes it fairly local. Snow Valley offered a 1/2 day ski school where they kiddos learned how to ride the magic carpet, go down hill a bit (even get a lil push to help get speed), learn the wedge (previously known as the snow plow back in my day). Even I managed to get in a semi private lesson to help refresh my skiing skills after 10 + years. Our son loved the whole experience including getting a bronze medal along with his report card for his efforts.
Thank goodness for 66 degree weather to ease him into all too. The 2nd day our son and his buddy had a private lesson at Snow Summit which had more everything from snow to runs open. Great opportunity to test out their ski legs after learning the how to. Way to go ski bums!
We are looking forward to our next ski trip.
