My special b'day gift

 Anyone would love the traditional ways someone send you birthday wishes and then there are the special, unique ways that your children give you those wishes. In the case of my son he definitely kept it sweet and creative by writing me his very first story. The story was about a dragon. I loved how excited he got to write it and present it to me as one of my birthday gifts. What ways are your children expressing themselves.

Over the years the birthdays in our family became birthday months because sometimes the celebrations go on for a while as you get celebrated by different family and friends...it takes while to get so many showers of love and attention. This year my dear friends organized a lil lunch at one of local favs, Nick's. I loved getting a chance to spend time, catch up a laugh about clean hair days and the woes about busy family life. Thanks ladies - love you!  The restaurant makes this incredible dessert - brown butter cake. This cake was seriously one of the best cakes I have ever eaten and those of you who know me know I don't like cake (yes, I have a sweets blog and I can bake them but its usually for others and cake is not my fav thing to eat). I am still trying to hunt done the recipe since after all my friends took a bite they all said "oh Ilana you need to figure out how to make that!"
