Happy Purim! Purim is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the saving of the Jewish people from Haman, who was planning to kill all the Jews. This took place in the ancient Achaemenid Persian Empire. ... We eat a celebratory meal and such treats as these cookies, hamantaschen that ridicule the evil Haman's (boo, hiss) hat.

I filled them with date/orange jam recipe below, walnuts+ chocolate and honey and nuts. My son said we have to make a large one to share and so I did! #ilanasweets #purim #hamantaschen#datejam
Date Jam:
1 cup dates (about 8 oz.), pitted, quartered1 teaspoon finely grated orange zest
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon kosher salt
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Bring dates, orange zest, cinnamon, salt, and 1 1/2 cups water to a boil in a small saucepan. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring often and mashing with a heatproof spatula, until dates are very soft and jammy, about 5 minutes. Add butter and stir until melted. Let cool.
Filling can be made 4 days ahead. Cover and chill.
